Jhonny Blanco: A Glimpse into My Culture

Born in La Paz, Bolivia, to Aymara parents, Jhonny seeks to rediscover and preserve his heritage through his work. His art breathes life into the Aymara culture, utilizing symbols, faces, and rock-art figures that capture the essence of Andean theogony and worldview. His palette of Andean colors, in all its nuances, transports the viewer to the Bolivian highlands and the grandeur of pre-Columbian civilizations.A self-taught painter, Blanco's mission is to reflect his country's cultural philosophy, rooted in the study of the ancient Tiwanaku culture—the millennial predecessor to the Incas.After participating in collective exhibitions in La Paz, he moved to Argentina in 1994, where he began showcasing his work in Buenos Aires' cultural spaces. Since 2006, he has been part of the esteemed roster of painters at the Museum of the City of Buenos Aires. His mastery of diverse techniques—oil, acrylic, watercolor, ink, and sculpture—has led his work to be acquired by collectors worldwide, from the Americas and Europe to Asia and the Middle East.
